Uganda has over 28 million subscribers with MTN Uganda having over 50% of the market share. Here are the top mobile networks in Uganda.
1. MTN Uganda Limited

MTN Uganda is the largest telecom company in Uganda, with 15 million subscribers. In a country with 28 million subscribers, MTN Uganda continues to demonstrate market share leadership with over 50% of total subscriber base in the country.
2. Airtel Uganda Limited

Airtel Uganda, is one of the leading telecommunication service providers in Uganda with an estimated 10 million subscribers, the second largest after MTN Uganda.
3. Uganda Telecom
Uganda Telecom is the third largest mobile network in Uganda. This network is owned by the government of Uganda and currently under receivership due to large debts of about USh 700 billion (approx. US$200 million) and mismanagement.
4. Lycamobile
Lycamobile Uganda is the fourth largest mobile network in Uganda. It’s a Mobile Virtual Network Operator currently headquartered in London, the United Kingdom. Lycamobile has earned a reputation of providing the cheapest data bundles and many Ugandans are jumping on its band wagon.
5. Smile Communications Uganda Limited
Smile Uganda, takes the fifth position. Smile Communications provides 4G LTE mobile broadband in several countries in Africa and Uganda is one of the countries it carries out its operations. Smile offers very fast, reliable and high-quality broadband internet.
6. K2 Telecom
K2 Telecom comes in the sixth position. It is a telecommunications network company in Uganda. It was established in January 2013. By November 2015, the company’s estimated its number of subscribers at about 200,000. Airtel Uganda took over the 100,000 customers that K2 had left in July 2018. K2 Telecom continued to operate as a “virtual telecom”, receiving a royalty on services rendered to its customers.
